Dr. Zawawi completed his residency program in Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics and Doctorate Degree in Oral Biology from Boston University, Massachusetts, USA. He also completed a Fellowship certification program in TMD and Orofacial Pain at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Boston (USA). Dr. Zawawi has been on the staff of the Faculty of Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University since 1993. He also served as a research associate at the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts University (USA) where he published numerous articles in Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and Orofacial Pain. Dr. Zawawi received several awards; in 2005 the Goldman School of Dental Medicine Dean's Award in the Science & Engineering Day, Boston University, in 2004 - Bloc Grant Travel Award from the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), and in 2004 - Science Day Postdoctoral Poster Presentation Award at Boston University, Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Zawawi is a Professor in the Department of Orthodontics, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
